We are raising money for Carers in Hertfordshire!
We have both experienced a caring role at some point in our life, even when we didn’t realise. We are looking to raise £300 to help the charity continue supporting unpaid carers, by running/walking 6 miles around Welwyn Garden City.
What is a carer?
You are a carer if you provide unpaid support to a relative, friend, partner or neighbour who could not manage without your help.
Caring for someone who needs their support due to their age, physical or mental illness, disability or substance misuse, involves a range of tasks to help them with day-day living. This can include helping someone to get washed or dressed, managing their money or going to appointments with them. It might also involve providing encouragement and emotional support to someone who is struggling to cope.

How can Carers in Hertfordshire help?
Carers in Hertfordshire is the county's leading charity for unpaid carers. They work in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council and other local organisations to provide services to carers, ranging from giving information and advice, to helping you make time for yourself and encouraging you to look after your own health and wellbeing. They offer support to carers of all ages, with their youngest registered carer being 4 years old.

Carers in Hertfordshire aims to make a difference for carers by increasing their reach earlier in their caring role, empowering them to become more confident and have greater choices and strengthening the voice of carers throughout the county. Donations from supporters such as yourselves, helps them to reach more carers of all ages and caring circumstances and enables them to benefit from their services.

There are over 118,000 carers across the county and with 3 in 5 of us predicted to have a caring role at some time in our lives; this figure is set to rise considerably.
